OVERSIZED HOODIES
Our oversized hoodies are cut with the extra room already built in. You do not need to turn a standard hood into an oversized one by buying several sizes larger.
At the heavyweight end, Black Oval and Navy AV Sport use 570 GSM, 100% heavy cotton with double-lined hoods and low-pile velvet lining. The construction stays heavy, while the branding changes from embroidered Oval artwork to an appliqué AV Sport patch.
The result is a small oversized range with clear differences in finish rather than the same blank repeated under another graphic.
The Oversized Hoods
THE FIT STARTS WITH THE CUT
An oversized hoodie should get its shape from the way it is made.
Black Oval Hood and Navy AV Sport Hood are both cut with an oversized fit. Extra room is already part of the garment, so sizing up purely to make either hood look oversized is unnecessary.
Use the size guide when choosing how much room you want. Moving up another size can affect length as well as width, which may change the proportions beyond the intended fit.
That distinction separates an oversized hoodie from a regular hood that simply happens to be too large. The fuller silhouette should look deliberate from the start.
570 GSM HEAVYWEIGHT OVERSIZED HOODIES
Black Oval and Navy AV Sport both use 570 GSM, 100% heavy cotton.
GSM means grams per square metre. It measures the weight of the fabric rather than the total weight of the finished hoodie. At 570 GSM, these pieces sit firmly at the heavyweight end of sweatshirt fabric.
The construction continues through the hood. Both use double lining with low-pile velvet inside, adding more substance around the neckline and head.
Heavy fabric does not determine a garment's shape on its own, but it changes how much weight you feel through an oversized silhouette. Paired with a cut that is already roomy, 570 GSM gives these hoods a deliberately substantial build.
No vague heavyweight label needed. The number is there.
BLACK OVAL HOOD
Black Oval keeps the graphic quieter and lets the fabric carry more of the hood.
It combines an oversized fit with 570 GSM heavy cotton, then builds out the top with a double-lined hood and low pile velvet lining. The Oval logo is embroidered into the garment rather than printed across the front.
Black keeps the colour controlled, while the embroidery adds detail without turning the whole chest into the focal point.
If you want an oversized hoodie where the cut and heavy cotton make the first impression, Black Oval sits at the cleaner end of the range.
NAVY AV SPORT HOOD
Navy AV Sport starts from a similarly heavy base but changes the branding.
The hood is cut oversized from 570 GSM, 100% heavy cotton, with the same double-lined construction and low-pile velvet lining through the hood. Instead of embroidery, AV Sport uses an appliqué patch logo.
That extra layer of material gives the branding more surface and makes it read differently from the stitched Oval mark.
Navy keeps the colour dark without going back to black, so the graphic can carry more of the front without needing a louder palette.
WHY FABRIC WEIGHT MATTERS
Oversized fit and fabric weight are separate decisions, but they work together.
A light sweatshirt and a 570 GSM hood can both be oversized. They will not feel the same once they are on. Heavier cotton puts more fabric weight through the body, sleeves, and hood, while lighter material tends to feel less substantial.
The hood construction adds another difference. Double lining creates more material around the head and neckline than a basic single-layer build, while low pile velvet changes the feel on the inside.
If the goal is an oversized hoodie with real weight behind it, the fabric specification matters just as much as the fit name.
EMBROIDERY OR APPLIQUE
The two verified oversized hoods take different approaches to branding.
Black Oval uses an embroidered logo stitched directly into the garment surface. Navy AV Sport uses an appliqué patch, adding another material element to the front.
Neither relies on a large flat print to create interest.
Oval keeps the finish closer to the cotton. AV Sport builds more texture through the patch itself. The choice comes down to how much you want the branding to stand away from the fabric.
Same heavyweight direction. Different graphic finish.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR OVERSIZED HOODIE
Start with the fit. Pick a hood that is already cut oversized rather than trying to create the shape with an unnecessarily large size.
Then consider how much fabric weight you want. Black Oval and Navy AV Sport both use 570 GSM heavy cotton, so neither is aimed at someone looking for a thin sweatshirt layer.
Branding separates them more clearly. Oval uses embroidery for a cleaner front. AV Sport uses appliqué for more texture.
Colour makes the final decision easier. Black disappears into darker outfits and gives other pieces more room. Navy still stays controlled but brings another tone into the upper half.
If you are comparing oversized hoodies, those details are more useful than looking at size alone.
HOW TO STYLE AN OVERSIZED HOODIE
Start With A Tee
An oversized hood already brings more volume into the top half, so the base layer does not need to compete with it.
Wear yours over one of our tees. A cleaner tee can sit under the appliqué or embroidered branding without crowding the upper half, while a stronger graphic still works when enough of it is visible beneath the hood.
Keep the layers useful on their own too. The tee should still make sense when the hoodie comes off.
KEEP SOME ROOM THROUGH THE LEG
A substantial oversized hood puts plenty of visual weight above the waist. Drama Call denim gives you different ways to balance it below.
Baggy and wide denim continue the loose proportions through the leg. A more regular cut creates a stronger difference between the fuller top and narrower bottom.
Black works easily against raw indigo, washed denim or another dark base. Navy gives you more contrast without forcing a bright colour into the outfit.
There is no need to make every piece oversized at once. Decide where you want the volume.
BUILD A CLOSER SET
For a more connected top and bottom, go through the tracksuits.
Related colours and fabric weights can keep an oversized hood tied into the lower half without requiring every detail to match. A contrasting tee or footwear can break the outfit up when the top and bottom already sit close together.
Once the proportions work, stop adding pieces for the sake of filling space.
HOW TO WASH A HEAVYWEIGHT OVERSIZED HOODIE
Check the care label on your hood before washing it.
Black Oval and Navy AV Sport can be cold washed or dry cleaned. Both use 100% heavy cotton with low-pile velvet inside the double-lined hood, but their branding is finished differently through embroidery and appliqué.
Care for the piece you own rather than assuming every heavyweight sweatshirt needs the same routine. If the garment label gives a more specific instruction, follow it.
OVERSIZED HOODIE FAQS
An oversized hoodie is deliberately cut with more room in its intended silhouette. The look comes from the garment itself rather than buying a regular hoodie several sizes too large. Black Oval Hood and Navy AV Sport Hood are both made with an oversized fit.
Not simply to make it oversized. If the fit is already designed with extra room, moving up another size can alter both width and length. Use the size guide to decide how you want the garment to sit rather than automatically adding sizes.
Black Oval Hood and Navy AV Sport Hood are. Both use 570 GSM, 100% heavy cotton with double-lined hoods and low pile velvet lining. Other Drama Call hoods should be checked individually rather than assuming every style uses the same weight or fit.
GSM stands for grams per square metre and measures fabric weight. It does not mean the completed hoodie weighs 570 grams. Black Oval and Navy AV Sport use 570 GSM heavy cotton, giving both a considerably heavier fabric construction than a lightweight sweatshirt.
Not exactly. Oversized usually refers to a garment intentionally cut with extra room, while baggy is a broader description for clothing that looks loose. A regular hoodie bought too large may look baggy, but that does not make its original cut oversized.
Check the care label first. Black Oval Hood and Navy AV Sport Hood can be cold washed or dry cleaned. Both use heavyweight cotton and velvet lined hoods, while the logo finish differs between embroidery and applique, so follow the instructions attached to the piece you own.
